Episode #6: What no one told you about Motivation

If we believe we can only achieve our goals by being or feeling motivated all the time, we are not going to achieve much at all! Why? Sometimes we have to do the things we don't feel like doing in order to move the needle forward, so how can we make sure we keep showing up for ourselves, even when we don’t feel like it? How do we make sure this doesn’t become the point in which we give up altogether?

Are you mostly motivated to run away from the pain of where you are right now? OR are you mostly motivated towards achieving what you want because of all that it gives you positively.

Knowing this will explain how you either smash your goals or stay trapped in the stop start cycle. 

Motivation isn't always going to be there to help you take action. In this episode I share with you how you can HACK your ‘motivation’ and shift the energy associated with the actions you are taking so that you can keep showing up consistently for what you want.

  1. Write down your goal - what you are working towards right now 

  2. Write down your top 5 values in life - ”What is important to me right now about life?”

  3. Ask yourself “In how many ways does [insert action/goal] serve and help me to fulfill my value of [inert value here]

  4. Repeat this until you have 10 answers for each value 

Notice the shift in energy and how much it now feels like a must and notice how much more you feel like doing the thing! BOOM!

Whenever you feel the motivation slip, reread the above and connect to how much it serves you in all the ways.

**Remember: Where focus goes, energy flows! This is something you have complete control over.

Check in with your focus, shift into thinking about what you do want and how it will serve every area of your life.
